October 9, 2019, Wednesday

Rain, rain go away, the EDS children want to go outside to play!  We had our first indoor recess for the season.  There was a lot of classroom play today while the children were called to work on a variety of projects!

Our morning workshop tables included paint stamping 5 Little Pumpkins on a gate, felt board stories, and popcorn Halloween sensory table.  We had a special visitor helping us from Salve University today, so we had a lot of one-on-one reading of Halloween stories on our story rug.  At morning meeting we sang our Halloween Ball songs after our tweet and greet.

Our snack today was blueberries and cucumbers, pirate booty and grapes.  After snack, we got our wiggles out by playing a round of musical mats.

During center time, we talked about going to the dentist and explored a special dramatic play box loaded with materials all about caring for our teeth.  We read a few stories about our teeth and then set out to make a mouth with 10 teeth on the top and 10 teeth on the bottom for our bony bodies.  We learned that young children have 20 teeth normally.

After lunch we practiced writing the number 5, and painted a square pumpkin to go with our SPOOKLEY THE SQUARE PUMPKIN story.  We ended our day graphing in the math room.  Our new graph is titled, DO YOU LIKE SPIDERS?  Everyone got a special spider ring to take home after they answered the question.  So far, spiders are pretty popular with this classroom.
