Thank you all for your wonderful support of our Pumpkins on Parade Halloween Ball! We very much appreciated all your donations, pumpkin carving skills, and your time. We wish you could have been at our morning meeting this morning for our sharing circle. It was especially warm and fuzzy as we sat together and shared what we enjoyed about our evening last night. Some children really liked singing the songs, many liked the popcorn, and playing. It was particularly nice to hear our friends complimenting their friends' costumes. All around, it was an event the children really enjoyed. This is what we treasure, the community building that comes along with our after school events.
We celebrated the letter P today by baking pumpkin pie! Everyone got a special job, everyone was involved in making the pie. A wonderful STEM activity...science, math and technology happens while you bake in the classroom! I suppose Engineering, too, as we had to get it into the oven without spilling the pie filling! You will have to let us know what you think about that notion.
Snack today was cheddar bunnies, yogurt and raisins. We went outdoors to play where we turned some pumpkin seeds into the garden. We are still watching pumpkin jack rot, but he, too, will soon join the other seeds!
After lunch we had chapel time with Abouna. She reviewed our lessons of God loves us from head to toe, we are all a part of God's family, and today spoke about God's love for us all no matter what. After chapel, we enjoyed our pie which took a long time to bake! We had story theater for Big Pumpkin. In this story, the witch can't stop thinking about pumpkin pie! A fitting tale as the aroma of fresh pumpkin pie filled our classroom.
We wish you all a safe and fun Halloween Night. We are hoping the rain holds off for you all!
