Apple Craze continues! This morning's workshop table was Apple Oobleck or better known as slime! We mixed corn starch, applesauce and cinnamon to make a fun slimy texture to explore that smelled nice too. We work to enliven all of the senses in preschool! We also had spider counting mats to work our brains with number recognition and one-to-one correspondence. Bony bubbles were in the sensory table. Kind of like Tiny Bubbles, but we sang bony bubbles.
At morning meeting we talked about our upcoming Halloween Ball and practiced our new songs that we will be singing at this fun Halloween celebration. We also talked about our new bat unit.
Our snack was Lara Bars, cheese shapes, and fresh peaches. Delicious! After snack and our book look, we read some bat facts. We broke into our groups to explore symmetry with bat painting, to paint our bat cave. In between these two stations we also practiced name writing and putting together puzzles.
We had outdoor recess. We enjoyed this cooler breezier day!
After lunch we told the story of 5 Little Pumpkins sitting on a Gate in our reading area. Everyone got a turn to be a pumpkin until Miss Abby arrived from the Newport Preservation Society. For today's visit, Miss Abby told a bat story and explained echolocation with a fun activity. We are so lucky to have these wonderful partners in education in our community!
We ended our day on the playground.
