EDS, EDS, how does your pumpkin grow? That was our question for today. We talked about the pumpkin life cycle and some friends worked on a special paper sequencing how a pumpkin grows and becomes a jack-o-lantern. Our other workshop tables were pumpkin and gourd paint stamping, the eyeball witches' brew was back again, too, in our water table. The watch-it-rot tank is really something to behold now! It is amazing to watch the pumpkin turn to mush...we will then pour it into our garden and wait to see if we get a sprout next year!
At morning meeting we sang our Halloween Ball songs and danced to the Vampire Hunt. The letter A was introduced. We also talked to the children about our exciting news that was announced today! Heartfelt congratulations to Miss Carissa and Miss Sarah and their growing families!
Our snack today was goldfish raisin mix, clementines and pickles in honor of our mothers-to-be! At teacher centers, we worked in our HWT workbooks on our letter A page. During outdoor recess, we had some exciting entertainment today watching the town's public works crew dig up the pavement. It was nice to have the sunshine back and very little wind outside to play.
After pizza lunch we told Halloween stories and sang a fun witches' brew song to end our day.
A word of warning for the coming fall season. ..our Gingko tree in the school play yard is sprouting the yellow pods that smell very foul once they are stepped on. We try as best as we can to alert the children and keep them away from that area. If you smell something awful on their shoes, it is most likely from the tree pods.
Monday morning reminder, the Newport Fire Department is coming for a visit at 9:30 AM. All are welcome to join in on this visit. If it is not your child's regular school day, a guardian must remain with your child for the duration of the visit. Thank you.
Miss Terri starts her school photos next week! If you want to participate, please make sure to return your slip to schedule your session.
Happy Weekend :)
