Our mighty superheroes were keeping order in our classroom this morning! The children have been enjoying superhero play. Today we added some interesting computer screen scenes for our superhero computer headquarters. This way they can spot where there is trouble and hurry to the rescue! Our morning workshops were hand print painting (for our portfolios), play dough, and critter tree house. We began our Monday morning with a bit of extra free play. Morning meeting included our tweet and greet where we welcomed Miss Terri back to school after her daughter's wedding week! We also danced to a music movement song where we galloped, tip toed, swam, hopped and marched!
Snack was oranges, graham crackers, and carrots with hummus. After snack the children enjoyed book look on the reading rug. Just as the name suggests, we encourage the children to choose a book for themselves and enjoy looking through the story until everyone is finished with their snack and ready for a story. We then read a Superhero poem and talked about our cape project. Modeling our Superhero ABC book, the children will pull a letter bubble from our alphabet bubble pool to decorate on their cape. We are hoping to model our capes at the upcoming family picnic! The capes will be theirs to take home and enjoy or they can leave them at school for dress up.
We had another wonderful day to play outdoors. We opened bikes, sandbox, bouncy balls, dishes, and horses.
After lunch we met in the Science room to talk about what we will be learning about and exploring in this special center room. We will be learning about our bodies and what makes us SUPER! We read two stories, PARTS and PARTS 2 pictured below. We then broke into our work groups to decorate our superhero masks for our special class book that will begin circulating to each friend once it is finished. It will come home in a special bag for you to enjoy with your child. This is a fun way to learn about all of our friends at EDS this year!
Hope you can join us at our first Parent Committee (P.C.) Meeting on Wednesday Sept 11th from 9-10 am. All parents are welcome and we will stream it on our EDS Parents page on Facebook too!
Check out this nifty way to secure laces that one of our families is using! Cool gadget!
