Happy First Day of Fall! Our classroom is beginning to change with the season! In our housekeeping area we came in to find a crate of apples! At morning meeting there were falling leaves everywhere, whirling and swirling to the ground. Beautifully colored yellow and orange leaves. We talked about our changing season and how our weather will change to colder days and the leaves will turn color and fall to the ground. We also talked about our upcoming family picnic and our trip to the apple tree farm. Before we headed to snack, we danced to Dem Bones. I Ate Up the Apple Tree by Dr. John is our dance song for the week. Miss Terri is out this week, so we welcomed Miss Nancy to EDS for the day. Miss Pam will join us for the rest of the week.
Snack was cheese sticks, fresh sliced apples with peanut butter, and bran muffins. After snack we read a story about Johnny Appleseed. We learned a Johnny Appleseed song and each friend was given a chance to wear a pot on their head just like Johnny Appleseed. In our groups, we introduced our special Handwriting Without Tears (HWT) workbooks. Today we completed the page for the letter M and the number 3.
It was a breezy day today for recess. Perfect for kites and streamers, so we brought those outside. We offered bikes, the slide, teeter totter and sandbox, and ball play.
After lunch we worked on cutting skills and using scissors. We cut buildings for our superhero mural. We are saving these special murals for the art show in April. It is a multi media project of painting, photography along with cutting and pasting.
We ended our day tidying our classroom to our The Day is Done song and headed outside to wait for our ride home.
