What a beautiful morning! The teachers were greeted in such a warm and wonderful way by you all this morning. A heartfelt thank you for the delicious coffee bar set up and the vases bursting with flowers. Your kindness was surely appreciated. It really is our joy to be a part of Emmanuel Day School and our privilege to be a part of your young people's first school experiences.
The children were eager to check on their chicks to see how much they have grown over the weekend. They grow so quickly! Their wing feathers are coming on and they are very vocal. After lunch we made chick circles and got to meet them up close and personal. The children were able to hold the chick and pet the chick. They all embraced this experience with gusto! We giggled at one point a little chick tried to crawl in a friend's rainboot! What a hoot! The farm trip is going to be so much fun!
Mother Anita held Godly Play today. She read the story Quick as a Cricket. She told the story of Easter Tide and the spiritual journeys of St. Julian of Norwich and St. Catherine of Siena both remembered during this special church season.
Snack today was cheese sticks, pretzel rods and hummus. We went outdoors after snack for a good run about. The children are enjoying the flowers and taking in all the signs of spring. Worm hunting and bug hunting, oh my!
After our chick circle, some of our soon-to-be EDS graduates finished up painting their bodies. We tracked the progress of our caterpillars. Right on time, they have spun their chrysalises. We talked about metamorphosis and how many days we have to wait for them to emerge as butterflies. So much excitement!
Please remember we are CLOSED Wednesday for our Field Trip to Casey Farm. Please meet at the Farm at 9:45 to prepare for our presentation that begins at 10 am. Don't forget to return your permission slip! Thank you.
