Happy May Day! Time is really starting to fly now. We have started talking about our graduation ceremony and celebrating and sending off our friends moving on to Kindergarten in a special way. This can be a confusing time for our 3 and 4 year olds. Our focus is always on the positive, that all things come with time and they will have their graduation ceremony and celebration when it is their time to march to Kindergarten. It is a healthy emotion to have things to look forward to and to have future goals.
We have 4 yellow chicks and 4 black chicks in our brood box today! The children enjoyed watching them frollick about. It is important to keep the action down in the Science Room as the chicks settle in and begin to grow. At times we have to invite our friends to leave the room and that is ok. They are understandably excited and it is difficult for them to remember these types of rules. These are good lessons in how fragile life can be and all babies need quiet time. We have 4 eggs still in our incubator. We shall see over night what happens. We are very happy with the hatch we have.
Our snack today was apples and cracker trail mix. After snack we read THE VERY HUNGRY CATERPILLAR by the classic author Eric Carle. It is a fitting story as we observed our hungry caterpillars munching away preparing for their metamorphosis!
We went outdoors for recess.
We ended our day working in our chick journals and on our graduation bodies.
