There has been a delay in the blog posts due to technical difficulties with our school
laptop computer. We are hopeful it will be back up very soon. Meanwhile, there will be
a bit of a time delay in our posts. Thank you for your patience.
Wednesday’s morning workshop tables were a fine motor exercise creating the Letter E,
loose parts process art, and color mixing with paint.
At morning meeting we studied the Mona Lisa painting and told a short history of the
painting, including how it is the one of the most famous paintings in the world. They
were very intrigued to learn that it was once stolen from an art gallery and later
recovered.
Our snack was carrots, blueberries and pretzels.
We read the story MOUSE PAINT and re-enacted the story. It is a classic story that
teaches color science. 3 white mice hide from a cat on white paper but decide to dance
in some paint. The mice are delighted to see the paint colors change as they are mixed
together. Later they decide to wash off in the cat’s water dish so they can stay hidden
from the mouse. Our swimming pool served nicely as a cat’s dish to crawl into!
After lunch we worked on our art show projects which included Cezanne style pastels,
favorite color graphing, and self-portrait painting.
Due to the very frigid temperatures we have been experiencing, we have altered our
outdoor schedule. We are going outside for play in the late afternoon shortly before
dismissal, giving the temperature time to rise a bit!
