Pablo Picasso said, "Every child is an artist." We have been enjoying watching the artist in your child go to work. We were very busy today at morning workshop putting the finishing touches on last week's art show projects. We were painting sill life pictures of flowers and fruit, and gluing nature pieces to form our names. We are also working on self-portraits. Some portraits will be painted, some will be created out of paper, and some with fabric and loose parts. Whichever your child's may be, you will surely see a glimpse of their soul.
At morning meeting we decided it was a lamb day. Our question of the day was, "Do you like the color orange?" There were only two friends that are not partial to that color.
Our snack today was bananas and hard boiled eggs. After snack, we broke into different groups to read stories about famous artists. Today's artists were Jackson Pollack and Monet. Then some friends splatter painted art aprons Jackson Pollack style.
We then took a break from creating and went outdoors. It was a great day to be outside. We did not come back in until our bellies told us we needed some lunch. When we came in, we brought some snow into our water table for play.
After lunch we met in the math room to talk about our shape of the month and our current graph, which is, "What is your favorite color?" Purple is currently in the lead. Parents, you are welcome to weigh in. We began a new process art project today. We used a flashlight against a music CD to cast a rainbow onto a piece of paper. We then water colored over the rainbow reflection. What fun!
