Turtle Tuesday. The Audubon Society came for a visit to EDS today and introduced us to Tudley the Turtle. He was a painted pond turtle that has lived at the Audubon Society for 12 years! Ms. Sharon read a story about 3 different kinds of turtles (pond, lake and sea). Amazingly, all 3 types of turtles could be found in Rhode Island if you went looking. She showed us pictures of real turtles, let us touch a real turtle shell, and then let us pet Tudley. We learned a lot of turtle facts too.
Our snack today was chex mix and fresh blueberries. We had snack before Ms. Sharyon's visit. After her visit, we went outdoors for a scurry in fresh air. It was much too windy and cold to be out there too long. We came back inside for open play, and we also wrote a paper about our turtle visit.
After lunch we did some more exploring of balance. We brainstormed and worked together as long as we could to build our own scale using a hanger and a few other items. Our friends shared some very interesting thoughts on how to build a home made scale. Once it was finished, we set about testing it out like all good scientists do.
