February 25, 2019, Monday

February has flown by!  We are ending with a fun inhouse field trip tomorrow.  The Rhode Island Auduban Society will pay a visit to EDS tomorrow at 10 AM.  Friends that do not regularly attend on Tuesdays are invited to join with a guardian.  As always, the guardian must remain with their child for the duration of the visit.  We hope to see you all tomorrow.

Our morning workshop tables were play dough and tangrams.  We are getting a jump start on setting up for our Art month.  Our friends enjoyed Potato Head sculptures in the art studio.

Mother Anita held Godly Play in the morning.  She told the story of The Good Samaritan.  She also reviewed the church calendar.  After Godly Play, the children enjoyed a snack of cheese and crackers and fresh apples.  After snack we went outdoors for a short while as the wind chill was very sharp today.  We came back indoors for some dancing.

Our morning meeting has changed a bit. We have begun a question of the day for check in.  The questions are answered with either a Yes or a No.  Today's questions was, "Are you wearing buttons?"  We are continuing letter L this week.  We talked about the Month of March beginning this week and how our season will change from Winter to Spring.  We spoke of how the weather can be a mix of winter and spring like days.  They are either cold and blustery like a Lion or sunny and warm like a Lamb.  We will be charting our lion and lamb weather days in March.  We drew pictures of lions and lambs in our journals. We shall see if March comes in like a Lion and goes out like a Lamb!

After lunch we gathered together for Alphabet Train.  The puzzle pieces are dealt like a deck of cards, and we work on letter identification together by simply piecing the alphabet together.  Periodically we sing the alphabet song to find our place and what letter comes next.  Each friend had two turns to identify their letter and tell what was on their puzzle piece before putting it together.
