Another glorious sunshiny day! We were so happy for that so we could spend our afternoon outdoors after lunch. The children helped us prepare the classroom for the Emmanuel Barn Dance to be held this Sunday at 2pm. Come and swing your partner! We had to empty the floor to make room for all of the dosie doe-ing! It is open to adults and children. We cleared the room to make space for the dancers.
Our morning workshop tables were Lego Math Game, which is played by rolling dice and building Lego towers with that many pieces. We went 4 times around and then called it to see whose tower was tallest. We set up a Lollipop pony table. The children also had an opportunity to start some art show work by watercolor painting with droppers.
Snack today was a fun Chex mix and fresh cut apples. After lunch we passed out fairy wands to everyone and the children got to choose a fairy tale that has a wand in it. Hands down, Cinderella won, and we all enjoyed waving our wands to Bippidy-Bobbity Boo! The next story was Sleeping Beauty. That story has six fairies! We noticed that they carried their wands but did not Bippidy Bobbity Boo.
We made brownies today! What a gathering we had. If you have never made a box of brownies with a dozen or more friends, I highly recommend it. It is lively and laughs for sure. There are a bunch of great lessons in a baking exercise. Measuring and mixing, and investigating tools to make sure we had the right ones, and making sure we had everything that matched the back of the box to begin. We topped it off by adding some Chocolate sprinkles left over from the ice cream party. We enjoyed them after our pizza, green beans and applesauce lunch. A fun math and science session for sure.
