February 13, 2019, Wednesday

Roses are red, violets are blue, tomorrow's our  Valentine's Day Ice Cream Social, and we are excited to see you!  The festivities begin at 1 pm.  The children will sing some Valentine songs to start things off, and then we will start scooping ice cream.

Our morning workshop tables were matching broken hearts, Goldilocks story table, and a Scented Marker Book Making table.  We spoke yesterday about enlivening those senses, and scented markers are definitely a fun way to do that...especially when they are a new box!  At morning meeting we got one more practice in of our Valentine songs.  Our snack today was very festive.  We had heart shaped rice krispie cakes and strawberries cut like hearts!  Wow...someone loves us for sure!  After snack, we listened to the story of St. Valentine and how Valentine's Day began.

Our centers today were creating collage papers of things we like to push and pull.  These papers will be posted on our Push Pull bulletin board in the Science room that has been blank for way too long! We worked on our Letter G pages and worked on delivering our Valentines in our friends' mailbags.  Please take your child's Valentine bags home after the ice cream social.  It is a good idea to plan on opening them at home please.  Once they all begin to come out of the bags, things can get a bit confusing and usually tears follow.

We were lucky to have some snow left for outdoor recess.  Icy snow is the best snow to paint, so we did.

After lunch we balanced out our day by talking about balance and gravity.  We continued working on our push pull paper collages and practiced walking on a balance beam.
