November 1, 2018, Thursday

The first day of a new month is always exciting...we look forward to the changes in the classroom.  It is exciting for the teacher's as well as the children.  Children delight in new play and teacher's enjoy seeing how they react and play with the new setting.  It is always different and we both learn from our experiences.

We have 10 days to prepare for our EDS Thanksgiving Feast with much to do.  The children will be making festive headbands of their choice to wear for the celebration and helping us to prepare food for the feast.  They are currently making a very special place mat for their place at the feast table.  Our focus will be on helping each other and thankfulness.

While we are creating a Mayflower ship to relate to our First Thanksgiving story, we have decided to try something new and set up a pizza shop to go with our 5 Little Turkeys poem and Turkey Trouble story.  The poem tells a story of turkeys being afraid that Thanksgiving is near and the farmer puts them at ease by serving pizza with pepperoni and cheese.

Our snack was fruit packs and granola bars.  After snack we enjoyed the unseasonably warm day outside.

After lunch, Mother Anita held Godly Play outside.  She told the creation story and the story of Swimmy by Leo Lionni which is the tale of a clever fish that protects the other fish from natural dangers in the sea.

We ended our day out in the sunshine.
