October 3, 2018, Wednesday

Our friends were bursting with energy today...must be the fall air!  Our morning workshop tables were moon sand (baby oil and cornstarch...so soft and so fragrant!) and stack 'em mini solo cups and cubes and a beans and rice sensory bin.  Mother Anita held Godly Play this morning due to our Fire Department visit tomorrow.  She told the creation story.  Such a magnificent story to hear and it is always fun to hear the children's favorite part for that particular story.

Snack was Broccoli, crackers and cheese.  We went outside after snack today to move our bodies.  It was a bit damp, but we had fun with bikes, sand play, frisbees and balls.

After some outdoor time we had our late morning meeting.  We talked about our upcoming events this month.  We learned and sang some new songs that we hope to perform at the Pumpkins On Parade Party.  They were a hit!  We read Pumpkin Jack and displayed our own Pumpkin Jack that grew back in our garden. We plan to watch him rot and see if we can get him to grow back again next fall!  So exciting to think of the possibility.  We ended with a dance to our alphabet song.

After lunch we did color science mixing red and yellow paint to make orange pumpkins.  Some friends worked in their journals and HWT (Handwriting Without Tears) workbook on the letter T page.

We ended our day in the Math Center around our new bulletin board.  Our feature shape this month is a square.  We listened to an audio recording of Spookley the Square pumpkin and then each friend took a turn to find their shape pumpkin on the bulletin board and share what color and shape they were pictured in on the board.
