Our farmer's market opened today. There are apples and pumpkins for sale, and you can even build a scarecrow. With the new month, things begin to change. It is always fun to see the children's reactions to new things in the classroom.
Our morning workshop tables were a cutting station, monster candy corn counting, and build-a-scarecrow play. In the art center, there was corn cob painting. The corn cob prints will go on our corn stalks in our farmer's market.
Mother Anita went over the church calendar during Godly Play and told the creation story. The children got to share their favorite part of the story.
Snack was broccoli, cucumbers, ranch dip and crackers with baby bell cheese. After snack we went outdoors for some fresh air.
In the afternoon we came together for an afternoon meeting to talk about all the changes in the room. We also acted out a firefighter poem. We began our discussion about fire safety to prepare for our visit from the Newport Fire Station on Thursday at 10 am. All are invited for this wonderful visit. We will be having our first fire drill at that time.
We also introduced the letter T today. We broke out into our work groups to complete the T page in our HWT workbook and to corn cob paint.
We ended our day outside in the misty weather.
*A note from Miss Carissa- Thank you all for a beautiful start to our school year! Please remember to make your October tuition payment, return your field trip form with payment and check out the new PAB volunteer sign-ups at the front desk. Happy October! :)
