Oooo it is beginning to feel like fall and fun is in the air in our classroom! Today we had a morning workshop that was a Halloween Town lit up with candles in magna-tile square and triangle shaped boxes. There was a spooky house with finger puppets to retell our Halloween stories that we have been sharing together. We also had a bingo marker table set up to create a 5 Little Pumpkins story paper, or just bingo art if that was the desire. Color sorting was open with new pumpkin erasers and orange and black Halloween silicon cups.
Our morning began with Godly Play. Mother Anita reviewed previous stories such as the church calendar and the story of Adam and Eve. This repetition allows for the children to retell the stories at a table during free choice time.
Our snack was veggies with biscuits and trail mix of popcorn, rice cakes, and pretzels.
After lunch we sang and danced to some Halloween silly songs. We even did the chicken dance. After lunch is a good time to get some wiggles and giggles out. We then settled in for a fun story board with Miss Terri. She told THERE WAS AN OLD WOMAN SOME LEAVES and 5 LITTLE PUMPKINS SITTING ON A GATE. The amazing thing is, we can make the lights go out when we say the words all together!
We introduced the letter S today. We did some HWT books and jack-o-lantern paintings. They are almost complete! We will tell silly stories about our pumpkins once everyone has painted one.
We ended our day with a Soft Squishy Ball toss game while we waited for our rides.
*A note from Miss Carissa- Please return your field trip payment ($12) and permission slip by Friday, October 19th. We are also looking for more volunteers to help run the EDS table at the Harvest Fair. Sign up for this is at the sign-in desk. Finally, be on the look-out for a Perfect Potluck to come around for our Pumpkins on Parade event October 30th. Thank you for ALL you do!
