October 11, 2018

We read a new story today about not being afraid.  Today it was about Monsters, the book was GO AWAY BIG GREEN MONSTER.  We retold it on the felt board.  This is a good time of year to talk about fears and what is real and what is pretend and what we can do when we feel afraid to make ourselves feel better.

We had Godly Play with Mother Anita in the morning.  She told the story of Noah and the Ark.

Our snack was Apples, Clementines and pretzel popcorn mix.  After snack we went outdoors for some fresh air before the rain began.

Our morning workshop tables were marble painting fall leaves, name writing mats with letter cubes, and the  beans and rice jack-o-lantern sensory bin.

We read a story about clouds today, it is pictured below.  We learned the science name for the different cloud formations.  We got to experience the gray blanket of clouds today and feel the rain drops drip out of the clouds onto our bodies before we came in from recess.  It was the perfect lead in to our story.  A God Wink.  We know that children learn so much when they can have a total sensory experience to connect to information in a story.

We ended our day dancing with bean bags to bean bag boogie, the freeze dance, and going on a bear hunt.  We listened to going on a vampire hunt which is a fun Halloween version of bear hunt. We got our wiggles out before we did some journaling and the Letter A page in our HWT book.
