October 10 2018, Wednesday

Today we met the Dingly Dangly Scarecrow and listened to a funny poem about him.  We soon will begin building our own dingly dangly scarecrow to take home.  We are having a grand time learning all of our new Halloween songs that we hope to sing at our Pumpkins On Parade Party on October 30th at 5:30.  This is such a fun filled season, it is hard to begin to tell about all our smiles of the day.  We acted out our story of THE LITTLE OLD LADY WHO WAS NOT AFRAID OF ANYTHING.  We tried to come up with words that mean "to not be afraid."  Brave was the favorite word.  We also talked about courage and being courageous.  The little old lady in our story was surely courageous.

Our morning workshop tables were special legos, alphabet puzzle matching game, moon sand and beans and rice jack-o-lantern sensory bins.

Our snack was pretzels, cheese sticks and Clementines.

It was a glorious day to be outside.  It was so summerish, we brought out the water table today for some refreshing sensory play.  If clothes are a bit damp, it was from the water play.  We also got out the watering can to water our garden which is still sprouting delicious tomatoes!

After lunch, some friends finished  their jack-o-lantern paintings by giving them a face featuring different shapes.  Later we all gathered in the science room to learn about clouds.  It will begin to look a bit cloudy in there soon!  We talked about what clouds are made of and about the different types of clouds.  We learned their scientific names.  Soon we will do a fun science experiment called Clouds in a Jar.  That's right, we are going to make our very own shaving cream clouds and then explore how many drops of colored water it takes before the cloud begins to rain.  As you can imagine, our friends are very excited for this experiment to begin.
