September 6, 2018, Thursday

It was another steamy day at EDS!  We are ready to have this weather move out for sure! Although it is our second day of school, it was a new beginning for a few of our friends today.  I am happy to write that everyone has settled into our school routine very nicely.  Even our returning friends have been met with a few different routines this year.  Please be sure to praise your child on what a great report you have gotten from their Teachers!

We began our day exploring centers.  Workshop tables included beading.  Beading is a wonderful fine motor exercise, it relaxes the soul and encourages creativity.  We love to bead in the morning!  We also had a fun sorting eraser tray that Miss Terri provided.  Our cutting station was out too.  Many friends chose to draw rather than cut today.  After morning workshop, we met for circle time and acted out our Owl poem and placed our owl name tags on the school tree.  A snack of yogurt and fresh cut apples followed.

We had our centers inside today.  Our new friends completed a first day paper with Miss Terri and everyone painted a set of handprints for their portfolio with Miss Sarah and Miss Kate.  We got outside as quickly as we could to catch the breeze.  We had lunch together.  After lunch we danced and sang to I HAVE A SONG IN MY TUMMY by Laurie Berkner.  We all gathered together and had a puppet show of 3 Billy Goats Gruff.  Everyone got a part!  Aside from the puppet characters, we had rhythm sticks to make the trip trap sound of the goats traveling over the bridge.  What fun!  We sang out goodbye song and headed back outdoors for a bit of sprinkler action with the hose to cool off.

A note from Miss Carissa, please remember to make your September tuition payment by the end of the week.

See you tomorrow for fun Friday!
