We had a fun Friday to end our Fun first week of school! Three more friends had their first day of school today. Everyone did a terrific job of settling into our school routine. I have been reminding all week long on the blog to give extra big hugs to your children and to tell them how happy they made their teachers by doing their best at school!
Our snack today was graham crackers and bananas. Our friends are really getting the flow of our snack buffet table and serving themselves an appropriate portion.
Our morning workshop tables included building a wooden castle with Miss Lauryn, giant stamp pads at the art table, and magna tile building. We continued working on making a nice set of painted handprints for our portfolio books and drawing pictures about our favorite part of school. At morning meeting we played our Wise Old Owl poem and practiced our friends names while we put our very own owl on the school tree. We talked about our school day schedule so our friends could feel more comfortable about what will be happening next through our day. Preschool is a very big step at this tender age, it is a good thing to let them know what we have planned for our day. One thing we DID NOT plan was having the pizza delivery late! Ooops! That happens sometimes. Thankfully we had broccoli and cheese sticks to hold our bellies until he arrived at 12:30. We danced and played and the time flew quickly before he arrived.
It was much cooler outside today. We did our center work outside in the breeze because the classroom was still a bit stuffy. We ended our day reading the story WEATHER in our Science Room. We talked about what a meteorologist does. We practiced making a weather forecast on the weather board in the Science Room. This is how we plant the seeds of how to play in the science room. It was another fine day at EDS!
