Full S.T.E.A.M ahead into preschool for sure!
It was a very warm day for our first day of school. Despite the heat, the children did a great job in settling into the new routine of school. Please be sure to give them an extra hug and tell them how proud you are of them. They all did a wonderful job of listening, making new friends and helping the teachers!
We began our day learning a new poem about an owl. This opened the owl name tag activity where the children place their special owl name card on our circle tree. This is a great way to learn each other's names and to welcome everyone to our day. Our snack today was goldfish crackers and cheese sticks. After snack, we headed right outdoors to catch a cool breeze. We packed our center work to do outside. The children talked about what their favorite part of the school day is and drew a picture. This paper was packed in their folder and sent home.
We had our lunch indoors today. After lunch we read a story, MAISY'S FIRST DAY OF PRESCHOOL. We discussed how our school compared to Maisy's school in the story. We then took a tour of our school and talked about how we play at each center. We danced to a silly song by Laurie Berkner called I HAVE A SONG IN MY TUMMY. We ended our day outside.
We did a lot of refilling of water bottles. You can be sure we checked in with the children often to make sure that they were getting plenty to drink in this heat.
Also, may I remind that while this sunny weather continues, please apply sunscreen prior to coming to school.
We plan to do our family studies soon, so please send in those ties for our "Family Ties" board soon. You will find the graphic and instructions in the welcome packet information that you received at open house. Thank you all for a great start!
A note from Miss Carissa- please remember to make your tuition payment by Friday, Sept 7th. Thank you!
