We had a Terrific Tuesday. Our morning workshop tables were play dough, painting weather pictures for our Science Room bulletin board, prince and princess felt stories and community helpers felt stories, and frame-a-face.
At morning meeting a barn owl came out. We told a new barn owl poem. Our barn owl poem is a bit more mysterious than our Snowy Owl poem. We also read our Families Are Different poem. We thankfully had two more family ties to share. This is one of our favorite parts of September, getting know each other and learning about our special families. The children listen and watch intently. It is good. We ended our morning meeting dancing to the Color Song.
Snack was watermelon and popcorn. Thank you to you all for these wonderful snack choices! After snack, at centers, we played a shape matching game. We continued work writing our class book on our favorite shapes to eat. It will be finished very soon and begin to circulate home to share with you.
Outdoor recess was hot and steamy. Several of the children made note of the fog. It was like we were playing in a cloud. We moved the kitchen right to the sandbox today. It is very fun to make sand cakes. However, it is a challenge to keep the sand in the sandbox when the kitchen is way across the playground. So, we finally moved it. That was another good thing today. We also made bracelets out of leaves and stems from the ground. So lovely as our leaves begin to change color! Meanwhile, our pumpkin continues to grow on the side of our raised garden beds. We are so excited to see how big it will become!
After lunch the whole class worked on an alphabet puzzle! This is a teacher favorite. Everyone gets pieces, we wait patiently for our letter to be connected, we sing the alphabet song repeatedly without tire to figure out which piece is needed, not to mention all of that letter recognition and cooperation and helping of one another! So much learning packed into one puzzle.
We ended our day making banana oatmeal cookies. We had some bananas that were ready to bake, we did not want them to go to waste. Another activity packed with math and science! We all got to measure and mix and smell and taste! A great way to end our day for sure..
Photos coming soon :)
