September 10, 2018, Monday

We began our week in a very calm fashion.  Our friends were very concentrated in their play and there was barely a buzz in the room.  Our morning workshop tables consisted of a loose parts activity we call "frame a face," and we also had mirrors out for tracing our reflection.  That can be a challenge!  We love a challenge!

Thank you to the families that have sent in their family ties.  We shared a family poem at morning meeting and shared our ties.  If you have misplaced your template for the tie, please let us know, we have extra.  If you have any questions about this homework, please ask, we are happy to help.  Our music and movement was the Goldfish song by Laurie Berkner and Red performed by Jake Hill and Allyson Harple.

Snack was bananas and crunchy granola bars.

Our work this morning was making play dough and cutting it into shapes.  We also read a story THE SHAPES WE EAT and played a matching game with play food.  We used our mystery box for the children to draw out a piece of play food and match it to the best shape for that food.  Some were a challenge indeed.  We are in the process of making our own class book titled THE SHAPES WE LOVE TO EAT.  Your child will soon have a turn to bring the book home to share with your family, so be on the look out in about a week's time it will begin to circulate.  This is a fun way to introduce our friends to our family.

We attempted to play outdoors, however the wind was a bit gusty and coupled with the spitting raindrops, we were uncomfortable.  We retreated indoors for recess in the library.  We are so lucky to have so much wide open space!

We ended our day with some open play and work in our journals and on our page for the class book.  Thank you to all that attended our first PAB meeting this morning!
