Marvelous Monday, March 23rd 2020 EDS at Home!

Good Morning Friends!

Hope you had a nice Spring Break!

Today kicks off our first try at EDS at Home! Each day we will post a variety of activities and resources that you can do together with your child at home based on our school plans for this week.

Be sure to check your email for the link to our Daily Live Zoom Morning Meetings!

Although it is a tender time, we can also look at this is a magical opportunity to pause our busy lives and truly soak up this quiet moment with our children. This week we hope you create special family memories together.

We will continue to follow Newport Public Schools physical closings while remaining open in the virtual world by offering our daily program as "EDS at Home."

As we continue our EDS mission virtually, we also want to continue our close sense of community, so please keep in touch!

Email Miss Carissa and Miss Kate (kate.edsteacher@emmanuelnewport.org) any photos of your family participating in these lessons that we can share with your friends on the blog.

We also encourage you to use the email thread, EDS parents Facebook page and Facetime to support and share with each other.

Please contact us with any questions!

Warmly,
Your EDS Teachers

1. STORY OF THE WEEK When Pigasso Met Mootisse

STORYLINE This is a great website that features virtual story times.

Continuing with our Art study please view When Pigasso Met Mootisse

After watching the story, you can create your own Pigasso abstract or Mootisse paper cut out. Dive into the below clips to learn more about these influential and unique artists.

Check out the AWESOME Matisse inspired collages created by some of our EDS friends! Those colors and shapes make it look 3D great work girls, thank you for sharing :)

2. LETTER of the WEEK Jj

Each day we will assign you a short activity for the letter of the week.
Monday- Write the letter J and draw a picture of something that begins with J (/j/elly, /j/eans, /J/ack!)
Please practice name writing every day.

3. Math of the Week

To continue our study of March weather this week, you can keep an at home graph tracking the Lamb and Lion weather. March roars in like a lion and skips out like a lamb. Is Monday a lion or lamb weather day? Lion would be stormy, cold or blustery, Lamb would be warm, calm and spring like. Create and fill in an at home graph.

Math of the Day-
Monday- Count 4 items at breakfast or lunch, practice writing the number 4. 4 is our number of the month because of the lucky 4 leaf clover!

4. CREATIVE ART of the DAY
Last week we officially welcomed Spring! Grab something to draw or paint with and head outside to hunt for and draw signs of Spring. Do you see anything growing? How about any creatures waking up from their Winter naps? Last week Harry and I found so many wiggly worms when we turned over the soil in our veggie garden.

5. MUSIC or MOTOR of the DAY
Play Rainforest Animals Charades. Your child is just finishing a unit about the Rainforest, create a list of animals that live in the Rainforest and have fun acting them out and guessing what animal they are.

6. BONUS of the DAY
