EDS Family Snack Schedule
Each family is assigned one
week to provide snack for all students throughout the school year. This
provides families with an opportunity for their child to share their favorite
foods with their friends. Please send a list with your snacks outlining the
snack schedule for the week to be posted on the blog (ex: Monday- blueberries
and pretzel sticks, Tuesday- yogurt and melon).
Research shows preschool
students do not get enough vegetables and fruits each day. Therefore, we
encourage families to send a variety of fresh healthy snacks such as veggies,
fruits, nuts, cheese, yogurt, hummus, etc. Below you will find a list of
suggested foods. We will provide water and 1% milk with every meal. Juice and
candy are not served at EDS and will be sent home.
We have a self-serving snack
time, where students learn how to us the proper tools to portion and serve
their own snack. This not only fosters independence, but also an understanding
of portion control.
We have 18-20 students per day
which averages about 2 packages of grapes, for example, per day.
We love to have our students try new types of food!
