January 9, 2020, Thursday

Castle construction continued this morning at our workshop tables along with our Letter D discovery table.  The children could make a D with diamonds or wooden pieces or write and erase the letter D on a chalk board.  A favorite has been the 3 Bears STEM set where the children are able to build a table, chair or bed for the bears and Goldilocks.

We had morning meeting with tweet and greet and talked about our busy schedule for the day.  Our snack was graham crackers, cheese sticks and oranges.  After our snack we went into the library and did some dancing with bean bags and went on a bear hunt before Miss Cathy from the Newport Library arrived to read some fun stories about fairy tales.  The children made magnificent crowns after the story time.  Miss Cathy always brings sunshine to our classroom!

We had indoor recess in the library with Tinker Toys, Giant Floor Puzzles, Potato Heads, and Cars.

After lunch, we had Godly Play with Abouna where she introduced the desert sand box and told the story of Abraham and Sarah and their many children.

We ended our day in the math room reviewing our shape of the month, the Hexagon. We learned that a Hexagon has six sides that are the same size.  We then did some shape review and played a shape matching game.  Each child was given a felt shape.  On the "go" cue, they were to go out to the lunch tables and find the shape card that matched their shape.
