Fee Fie Foe Fum, soon a giant may come! Jack and The Beanstalk is our featured fairy tale this week. We acted the story out using fun masks and story props today.
We began our day working on our number 7 page for our number books that are in our portfolios. The children drew 7 dwarfs for the fairy tale Snow White. We also had peg boards and triangle puzzles out for workshop tables. We had a game table this morning with leap frogs that hoped about lily pads depending on what color they rolled on dice. The children did very well taking turns and following game rules. This can be a challenge for this age group for sure!
We had tweet and greet where we introduced our new friend that just began EDS yesterday. It is always fun to meet a new friend! The Letter K was introduced and we danced to our phonics song listening carefully for the letter K.
Snack was carrots, grapes, and pretzels. After snack we read Kangaroo Kazoo and then broke into our work groups to work on our Letter K page in our HWT workbooks.
We had outdoor recess today. It has been so warm, the worms were on the move. Our friends enjoyed some worm hunting today.
We ended our day acting out our feature story. We had a great discussion before hand about fairy tales and what makes them exciting stories. What is real and not real can be blurred for this age group, so we were sure to talk about giants and how they are not real, but they do make exciting and funny stories.
