Our morning was all about our Joyous Christmas Journey story. The children created wonderful drawings and concentrated writing about their part in the story for a paper that will be in their student portfolio along with a cute-as-elf-ears photo of them. Our penguin water table was open for sensory play and play dough with holiday cookie cutters was available.
For snack we had pretzel sticks and wheat crackers with fresh vegetables. After snack we dressed in our costumes and went to the sanctuary to tell our story. We are very excited, it is coming along nicely! Then out into the mud we went! Wow...our front yard is a mud pit. Mud play is an important component in child development, so we will embrace it and do the best we can to protect clothing. Thank you for sending in those outdoor play suits and boots. They will need a laundering this weekend for sure!
We ended our day with an old favorite, The Three Bears Christmas Eve story, in honor of our letter B week. We told it with puppets and story pieces and some children had parts and others had the joy of watching and listening.
The children came home with a packet of reindeer food from our new custodian, Miss Lori. She made it with real grain and glitter for Santa's reindeer on Christmas eve. What fun they will have spreading it about the yard!
