November 4, 2019, Monday

During our month of November, we will be talking about the first Thanksgiving Feast, about making new friends and celebrating our differences, and about what in our life makes us feel happy and thankful.  Today we were thankful for a new friend that joined our school!  Not only was it her first day of preschool, but it was her birthday too!  She shared a doughnut treat with her new school friends after lunch.  We made her a giant birthday card and we sang for her.  What a grand way to begin our week.

Morning workshop tables were log cabin imagination station, placemat painting, and birthday card drawing.  At morning meeting we had our tweet and greet and then discussed the story of the first Thanksgiving.  We danced to a fun Turkey Hop song.

Our snack was goldfish cracker mix with dried apple slices and carrots.  After snack we learned some new songs that we will sing at our EDS Thanksgiving Feast.  We then went outdoors for fresh air and a runabout.

After lunch we acted out our story of 5 Fat Turkeys Sitting on a Gate.  Lucky for us, we already had a gate set up for this!  This is a funny one that ends happy with the turkeys and a farmer eating pizza for Thanksgiving.  We listened to a story titled GIVING THANKS.  We then worked on our letter recognition skills by assembling an alphabet puzzle train together.  We all sit in a circle and the children each receive 2 puzzle pieces.  We then set about singing our alphabet song and giving each friend a turn to place their puzzle piece, calling out what is in their train car and working on those letter sounds too.  All the while we were doing that, the children were called out to be interviewed about what makes them feel happy and thankful for our thankfulness board.
