We did some finger painting today. The children were given a tree trunk paper and they were free to create a scene of fallen leaves with their finger tips. They are hanging in the classroom for viewing. Our other morning workshop tables included log cabin painting, drawing, and a story telling table for The Three Billy Goats Gruff. This story set includes velcro covered blocks for building a bridge tall enough to fit the troll under and strong enough to hold the billy goats. That was a STEM challenge!
At morning meeting, we had our tweet and greet and talked about our letter of the week. We danced to our phonics song, listening closely for the N. Our snack today was grapes, carrots, and sweet potato chips.
After snack we went out doors to rake some leaves before the rain set in. We opened the sandbox and mowed the lawn too. After we got some fresh air, we came into the classroom and dressed in our costumes. We talked about the first Thanksgiving, and we sang our songs in the library room just like we will on feast day.
After lunch we worked on cleaning our vegetables in preparation for cooking. We worked on our thatch roof for our log cabin. We even began a holiday project that involved painting our feet. So, if your child's foot seems a bit discolored, do not be alarmed! We ended our day with a thanksgiving story book and 3 rounds of 5 Fat Turkeys Sitting on a Gate. It was a lucky day because everyone got to enjoy the fun of being a turkey.
