May 22, 2019, Wednesday

Strike up the band!  We had two birthday celebrations today!  We made giant birthday cards for both of them and had a birthday parade, with musical instruments and everything, after lunch out to the school yard where we sat under a shady tree and munched on delicious cupcakes!  It was just too perfect of a day to be indoors for too long.

Our morning workshop tables were felt stories, water spray flowers, and drawing.  We also worked on our graduation ceremony headbands.  They are almost finished.  We are ahead of schedule, which is wonderful because that leaves us more time to be out in the wilds.

Our snack was carrots, tomatoes and ranch with gold fish crackers.  After snack we skipped practice today to get right outside.  What a delight.  One of our favorite parts of the day was when we all settled around the sand box and built sand houses and castles and ant houses.  It is that harmony that the teachers look for when the children are engaged, working together, talking, creating, constructing, relaxing...all as one big community just inches apart from one another.  It is worth noting for our day, as it naturally does not always happen.
