Ms. Karen from Casey Farm came for a special visit today and brought our eggs for hatching! They have been coming every year for so many years, we could not even count! It is a wonderful experience for our friends to count down to hatch day, and to see the chicks peck their way out of their shells. This year we were blessed with an extra egg as our visiting chicken laid an egg right here before our very eyes! She must have felt very comfortable with all of our friends here to be able to do that! We have a Lucky batch of 13 eggs in our incubator. We are going to count tomorrow as day one on our count down calendar as today was not a full day.
In honor of egg day, we opened our new dramatic play center which is a nest with giant eggs.
It was too rainy for outdoor recess today, so we did a bunch of dancing. We learned the bunny hop and the "I Know A Chicken" song by Laurie Berkner. We used our egg shakers for dancing to make it extra fun.
Our snack was cheese sticks and oval shaped pretzels. Our shape of the month is an oval, so they were the perfect snack.
After lunch we continued work on art work, drew some spring pictures and talked about what we love about spring. We finished the day with an Easter Egg hunt for jelly beans.
