January 18, 2019, Friday

Spin art-a-Heart returned for fun Friday.  This form of process art never gets boring!  It is always such a surprise to open the spinner and see what happened to the mix of paint.  This is best done at a round table so our friends can gather around to Ooooo and AAAAH at our results.  We also made heart sun catchers for our school window.  Not only does it decorate our classroom, but it is sure to catch the eyes of the passers by on S. Baptist street.  We think of it as a community service of sorts!

Our other workshop tables included motion mats for exploration, valentine heart sorting mats, rice and beans with treasure hearts to find, and play dough.

At morning meeting we tried to guess the mystery pet in the mystery box.  We started out with one clue and the children were then invited to ask questions to learn some more clues about what animal was in the box.  After 4 clues, we opened the floor for guesses.  I will leave it here, and you can ask your child if they remember what was in the mystery box.  Everyone loves a mystery!

Our snack was graham crackers and broccoli with dressing.  After snack we had book look time.    Our stories were HOT DOG and THE DRAGON CANT.  Some of our group wished to hear some more stories, and those that were ready to move played a game of Doggie, Doggie Who Has Your Bone? and Cat, Cat Who Has Your Rat?  These are fun guessing games where you even get to wear a mask.

We went outdoors for recess.  It was surprisingly mild considering the small snowflakes we saw on our way into school today.

After lunch we experimented with catapults and motion with a balloon.  We had a large and a small catapult with ping pong balls to launch.  We used our hands, small paddles and a hand held fan to move a balloon taped to a straw along a string.  Everyone got a turn to explore.

We ended our day outdoors.  Everyone enjoy the long weekend.  Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day!

A note from Miss Carissa- Its that time of year... a noro like virus is spreading around the state and we are on alert. We have been doing a few extra wipe downs a day. Please keep your child at home if they are not feeling well.

Also we are closed Monday! Stay safe and have fun in the snow!!
