The sweet sounds of Christmas...jingle bells, the crinkle of wrapping paper, Christmas carols...a great way to start the day. After our free choice time in the morning, we had Godly Play with Mother Anita. She went over the Christmas calendar and talked about Advent and the Christmas Story. One of our favorite parts when we share a story is listening to the children share what their favorite part of the story is. Some stories are so wonderful, it is difficult to chose just one part.
Snack today was an apple and Ritz crackers and cheese. We also offered hummus for the crackers.
It was another gorgeous day to play outside. We have been enjoying this unseasonably warm weather. I hear it will change soon, so keep on packing those mittens and hats. Boots are always welcomed. Our play yard gets muddy from the dampness, so boots are wonderful. On that note, just a reminder that as it gets to 30 degrees, it is time to switch the rain boots to insulated boots to keep the toes warm.
After lunch we had a terrific round of Show and Share. We have a full house on Wednesdays, and the children have been so patient while each friend shares. They are all very interested in what their friends have brought in to share.
Some of our friends worked on their Christmas stocking. They are custom painted and they will be sewn together soon to be hung by the chimney at our reading rug. Lacing, or sewing, is a terrific hand eye coordination and fine motor exercise. Those stockings will come in handy for the teachers to stuff for Christmas too!
We ended our day outside.
