Today we were thankful for the beautiful sunny, warm fall day! We all needed to be out in the fresh air running and playing today.
Our morning workshop tables were Plymouth Plantation story table, tornado tubes in the water table and Ocean Sand. We practiced our songs for the Feast show and learned a couple new ones. We have so many fun songs, it will be difficult to choose which ones to perform.
Snack was yogurt, blueberries and graham crackers.
After snack we had our first Show and Share circle. What a hit! We were so proud of our friends today. They showed very good listening manners while their friends shared their C items. These types of sharing circles take considerable time, but are packed with moments to grow the child. It is an exercise in descriptive language, listening skills, and cognition. They get to communicate feelings, thoughts and emotions with words. We get to practice social skills such as taking turns, patience, and kind words. Important connections are made by sharing our special interests and new friendships are made. It is a great boost to a child's self-esteem and pride. Thank you all for participating. In a few month's time, we will switch the day, so all the children get to experience the joy of show and share.
After lunch we went back to work on our Feast preparation. We are making turkeys to decorate our room and Native American Necklaces to wear with our headbands. We have special place mats for the feast table as well. Some of our friends wrote silly stories about where their turkey is going to hide on Thanksgiving Eve. I will mention here that all these items may be packed for home after the feast. You may remove your child's items from the walls and table to take home the day of the feast.
We ended our day outside.
