Our little elves were filled with merriment this morning exploring our new play centers. We are fortunate to have four dramatic play centers. We debuted our new Polar Express center, we have a gift wrapping station to explore the joy of giving, our Christmas house with a Christmas tree for decorating and Christmas cookie baking, and our Stable with a manger and dress up to explore our Christmas story through dramatic play. Christmas is such a special time here at Emmanuel Day School.
The children chose their costumes today for their part in the pageant. We had a full dress rehearsal! We practiced our lines and our songs for the Christmas Pageant on December 20. We also completed an interview paper, "How does Santa deliver all those toys in one night?" We are currently working on a new graph in our math room. The children are creating an ornament for the graph, and we will count the different shapes and graph it. Our featured shape for the month is a star.
Our snack was trail mix and carrots. Our side with the pizza was corn and animal crackers for dessert.
We met in the science room today to talk about snow. We read a book called SNOW. This will be the last unit in our weather study. We learned that every snowflake is different...just like every person is different and unique...but they all have 6 points. We also learned a new vocabulary word, Blizzard. That is a snow storm with a very strong wind. Soon we will work on making a snowflake with 6 points for our science room bulletin board and perhaps a few to decorate our classroom too.
We ended our day with outside play.
