November 27, 2018, Tuesday

The turkeys have flown the coup and our classroom is beginning to change.  We try very hard to ease into Christmas, but that joyful spirit takes over and before you know it, the tree is up and Santa hats are everywhere!

Our little elves were busy wrapping presents and baking Christmas cookies today.  Wrapping a gift requires much concentration and fine motor muscle coordination.  It is an exercise in perseverance for sure.  Our collage tree making table was open again this morning.  We also had a First Christmas story telling table.

Mother Anita held Godly Play in the morning.  The children learned the word Advent and what it means.  They talked about the light of Christmas.

Snack was yogurt and pretzels.  We had outdoor recess.

After recess we met to talk about our upcoming new month.  We read the first Christmas story and talked about what parts we might enjoy being for our Christmas Pageant.  Our Pageant is scheduled for December 20.  If you are traveling and you know that your child will not be participating in the pageant, please let us know as soon as possible.  Not to worry, they will have a part and participate in the fun of  practice at school.  The children also retold the Christmas story and drew a picture to go with their story.  You can view these wonderful pieces near the art center in the classroom.

After lunch we had some fun with jingle bells and learned the song Jesus Jingle Bells, a little twist on the original version.

We ended our day outside.
