November 19, 2018, Monday

Today we are thankful for togetherness...and all of the preparations for our feast that we have done together!

This morning's workshop tables were Plymouth Plantation story telling table, cranberry exploration in the water table, mashed potato making, and ocean sand.

We were happy to have Mother Anita return for Godly Play today.  She told the story of Sarah and Abraham.

Snack was a trail mix of peanut butter balls, pretzels, and popcorn, together with a choice of an apple or banana.

After snack we went outside.  Although overcast with clouds, it was a very warm day for outdoor play.

After lunch we practiced our Thanksgiving songs.  We gathered together to make cranberry sauce.  The children have been immersed in the science and exploration of the foods that we have been cooking.  Manipulating potatoes while washing, scooping seeds and pulp out of squash and then rubbing with brown sugar and cinnamon, shaking heavy  cream into solid butter, and today smelling the orange zest and squeezing the juice onto the berries...done right, cooking is such a delightful sensory experience.  Not to mention the fun of adding sugar, butter, and salt and mashing everything together!  We are all so happy for our Feast planned for noon tomorrow, but are also happy for all the wonderful learning experiences we have had along the way.

We ended our day outside playing Ring Around The Rosie!

Tomorrow, please remember to take your child's Thanksgiving artwork after the Feast to enjoy over the holiday. If you are unable to get it tomorrow, but want it before Thanksgiving the Church is open on Wednesday.
