November 14, 2018, Wednesday

Today we were thankful for birthdays!  We celebrated a friend's 4th birthday today by making him a giant birthday card and enjoying mini cupcakes after lunch that he brought to share.

Our morning workshop tables were pumpkin spice play dough, potato washing (for our feast), drawing, cranberry investigation, and ocean sand.  At morning meeting we shared more thankful feathers and practiced our songs for the feast.

Our snack was grapes, strawberries, and pretzels.  After snack we had show and share.  Thank you all for sending in the wonderful I items.

Today we continued working on our headbands for our feast costumes.  Traditionally we have broken out into groups with some children being pilgrims and some Native Americans.  This year we are letting the children choose anything at all from the first Thanksgiving story that they want to make on their headband.  We also investigated and talked about cranberries.

We went outdoors.  It was a brisk day out there today.  Time to pack those hats and gloves. Please remember to clearly label everything! Many mittens look alike ;)

After lunch we continued working on our costumes.  We also made butter the Pilgrim way...well almost, I suppose the Pilgrims did not shake their heavy cream to the beat of Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off" song.  It was a lively jumping circle of friends with lots of giggles passing the jar of heavy cream to shake into butter.  We did it!  Then we examined the jar to think about just how that happened.  We drained off the buttermilk and stored the butter in the refrigerator until our feast!
It was a fun lively way to end the day.

Please remember to check out our Perfect Potluck link to contribute items to our feast- Gobble!
