October 30, 2018, Tuesday

We had some fantastic dramatic play going on this morning.  Very imaginative dress up and action.  Our morning workshop tables were place mat making (yes, time to get a jump start on our Thanksgiving feast preparations!) with real fall foliage and water color.  Beautiful!  We also had lacing cards out for a calming activity.

At morning meeting we shared some thoughts about our field trip to the pumpkin patch and practiced our songs for tonight's party!  We are all very excited for Pumpkins on Parade.  We have some spooky, happy and silly pumpkins awaiting!

Our snack was yogurt mixed with berries and wheat pretzel sticks.

Our story today was 10 TIMID GHOSTS with a felt board story piece set up.  Story boards always make stories more exciting...all our friends enjoyed helping Miss Terri tell the story.  After the story, most shared a story response page with a drawing.  We continued work on our scaredycrows and also spooky and silly Halloween story telling.

After lunch we made a science prediction about whether a pumpkin would sink or float and recorded our predictions on a special pumpkin page.  We tested our predictions outdoors in our water table.  We started with baseball sized pumpkins (in honor of the Red Sox win) and then experimented with a very large heavy pumpkin.  The children were amazed to see the large pumpkin float.
