September 21, 2018, Friday

This was our 3rd fun Friday together.  All of our centers were busy for morning free choice!  Our morning workshop tables were a water table with apples, easel painting,  and apple exploration.

At morning meeting we reviewed all of the things we have learned so far in our time together...about our school, about our school families, how apples grow and all of the fun things you can make with apples.  One friend even remembered apple jelly!  More apple fun will continue next week.  We danced to our favorite apple rhythm and blues song by Dr. John, Under the Apple Tree.

Our snack was strawberry yogurt and....YUP...apples.

Our centers were finishing up our apple investigation pages and creating our stick family.  Next week we will build a house out of blocks for our stick family.  We made predictions about whether apples would sink or float, then we tested those predictions outside after lunch.  We extended our discussion by wondering if the apples would continue to float if we emptied half of the water out of our tub.  They did...so we emptied about half more....then they just sat there.  We talked about what you needed to make something float.  This was particularly fun to do outdoors where the splashing is not such a concern.

Our story today was MY LITTLE FRIEND GOES TO A BASEBALL GAME.  We also read THINGS I LIKE and APPLES AND PUMPKINS.  They are pictured below.

After pizza, our friends enjoyed putting together puzzles together, such a great collaborative exercise.  There was really great teamwork going on.

We enjoyed this beautiful sunny day outside for much of our school day.

Next Thursday, September 27th is our Back to School Picnic! 5-7 pm. Bring your own picnic dinner and picnic blanket to enjoy our musical guest. A perfect potluck email will go out to sign up for drinks and desserts. Check out the volunteer assignments to see if its your night to help out. Its always a magical evening together!
