September 14, 2018, Friday

Fun Friday began with morning workshop tables of play dough, felt board stories, and connects.  We enjoy fun Friday, it is a slower paced day with a bit more open free play.  It is a chance to reflect on our busy week and catch up on some of our school work, not to mention our special pizza lunch.

At morning meeting we shared many of our friends family ties!  What a delight it is to hear our friends talk about their families.  Thank you all for sharing your ties.  For those that have not yet provided one, do not worry, send it in when you are able!

Our snack was mixed vegetables, hummus and ranch, and pita with peanut butter.

We read I LIKE ME by Nancy Carlson.  It is a cheerful story about a pig that really enjoys herself and shares inspirational ideas of how to react when things do not go your way.  It is a short story with a BIG message about loving yourself and who you are and how to keep a happy heart.  There is a silly page where she looks in the mirror and says, "Hi Good Looking!"  The children made a special mirror to take home with homework to share with you their mirror and say that very fun line from the story!  Enjoy the laughter! Mirrors will be coming home next week after the glue dries.  Friends that made their mirrors yesterday worked in their journals and continued first day interviews for their portfolios.

We had outdoor recess.  It was a lovely day to be outdoors.  Pizza was early this week!  We enjoyed a cooked broccoli side and had a frozen pop for dessert.  After lunch we read MY LITTLE FRIEND GOES TO SCHOOL.  In this story a boy brings a small felt friend to school tucked in a hidden pocket in his sweater.  After the story, we had a small little friend hidden in the school, like the story, for the children to find.  We love hide and seek!

We ended the day outdoors.  It was a terrific first full week!  Enjoy your weekend!

Remember, Monday we are going Apple Picking after school at Rocky Brooke Orchard at 2:30pm. :)
