A marvelous Monday. We began our study of the letter J. One of our friends wore his Jaguars jersey to school today in honor of letter J! The Audubon Society visited today with a special presentation of a Barn owl. What a fun way to brighten up a dreary rainy day! We read THE JACKET I WEAR IN THE SNOW, which is a fun rebus story that the children could help to read. Our question of the day was, "Have you been to the Audubon Society?" Our snack was peanut butter crackers. We did not go outside today. A reminder to bring in a shoe box sized box for Valentine's day if you have not already done so. Thank you!
We set up a Letter J obstacle course..build it, find it, shape it in the sand, and trace and erase.
We painted Jaguar spots.
Journaling letter J! Journaling is a letter J word!
Thank you to all who made a special trip in for our special presentation.
The children asked great questions.
Ms. Tracy read TRACKS IN THE SNOW and then had a variety of displays from animals in the story. Here she is holding a deer antler.
Mink fur.
Wood that a porcupine had chewed.
The owl was named Queen Solomon...Solly for short.
She weighed almost 6 pounds, which is a lot of weight to balance on your forearm!
It was fascinating to watch the owl turn its head almost 360 degrees!
We made snowflakes...did you know each snowflake has 6 points?
Telling an ice castle story.
Housekeeping and taking care of the babies.
