Fun Friday Train Time

 Snack Time

Cranberry Science.   First we talked about the significance of the cranberry to the Native Americans and early settlers.   Cranberries were used for many purposes.  We investigated a cranberry.  They are a beautiful color and a fun little berry to bounce around.  We then took our bog into the kitchen and added water.  The cranberries floated in the water!   The good berries float on top, and the rotten berries sink to the bottom.   After all the investigating, we went about making our cranberry sauce for the Feast. I think it is important to mention that we used a fresh bag of cranberries to cook! 👍

We talked about fruit zest and how it adds delicious flavor to food.  It smells wonderful too.  We added orange zest to the cranberry sauce.

We added a bit of fresh orange juice as well.

Once we squeezed the juice in...it was ok to eat the rest of the orange slice.

We all added a pinch of sugar.

Today was the day!  We put Pumpkin Jack into the garden together with the sprout.  Bye Bye rotten pumpkin.

Once the berries cooled, we mashed them.  The sauce is ready!  We had a little sample.  They are a bit orangey but delicious.
EDS Feast Day dress rehearsal.  They look fabulous!
