The children were riding the waves today at EDS. We used our imaginations and pretended to surf on a real surf board playing an ocean version of The Limbo to the lively song, Wipe Out. The story ONE FISH TWO FISH RED FISH BLUE FISH, a classic Dr. Seuss story, was read and a painting activity followed. The children wrote their names and drew pictures for our classroom book, A SEA OF FRIENDS. They also listened to the story THE RAINBOW FISH. We had a discussion to follow about sharing and how it is not always easy to do. The children created a fish with ripped paper. Each fish has a very special shiny scale. Ask your child about that shiny scale and what happened to the shiny scales in the story. They also used goldfish crackers to do some patterning.
Our morning centers had alphabet puzzles paired with an Ocean alphabet book. There was much delight in mixing sand into our water table ocean, wonderful sensory exploration!
Outdoor recess was very exciting as we watched a neighborhood house be demolished. Amazing!
