28 February 2020, Friday

Easels were open this morning!  Free painting is so fun to watch in our classroom.  If you look at the pictures carefully, you see that not only is the mind immersed in the work, but the whole body gets moving!  Beading was open for a more calm art work. Ladders and ponies were available for imaginative play.

Cezanne was introduced today for still life drawing with oil pastels.  The children drew their versions of a vase of fresh flowers.  Always an art show favorite.  Various projects were worked on today for our art show.

At morning meeting we had our tweet and greet, danced to the Rainforest song with instruments and to the Color Song with color twizzlers.  Our snack today soy chips, hummus and fresh cantaloupe.

We read a favorite story today, The Great Kapok Tree, using felt board story pieces.  It is a wonderful story about a man that is going to chop a Kapok tree down in the the rainforest.  He tires and falls asleep.  While he is sleeping, a host of jungle animals and insects whisper in his sleeping ear about why this great tree is so important to them and the world.  The children are always riveted to see whether the man chops down the tree when he awakens.

We went outdoors for recess where we rode bikes, played in the sand box, used the slide, seesaw and bouncers.

After pizza lunch we continued work on our art projects.
