Today we met a new teacher, Miss Kayla, who was substituting for Miss Terri. Miss Kayla is a lovely and talented singer, and she taught us a new love song today, L-O-V-E by Nat King Cole. What a delight!
Our morning workshop tables were tanagram pictures for a little early geometry, potato heads, and valentine heart candy graphing. At morning meeting we had our tweet and greet, we talked about our field trip and heard from everybody about what their favorite part of the visit to the post office was. Some enjoyed the machines, some the stamps, and many loved putting the envelope in the mail slot. We practiced our songs and danced a bit to some jiggy love songs.
Snack was cheese sticks and rice cakes. After snack we met together and studied the letter H. We built it with wooden pieces and felt our breath on our Hands while saying some H words. Miss Kayla read a fun H story, Hiding Hippo. After our story, we broke into groups and worked on our Letter H page in our HWT workbooks.
We went outdoors for recess where we played in the sand, rode bikes, bounced and used the slide and teeter totter. Miss Kayla lead a game of hide and seek.
After lunch we cut paper hearts and studied the symmetry of hearts. We wrote H for Heart on our cut outs. Some continued work on their fairy tale paper dolls that will be in the art show. We ended our day with two story books, The Story of Valentine's Day and A Kiss Like This.
