With our late start, we did not have a morning meeting. After our project work, we gathered for a snack of veggie sticks, yogurt and crackers. After snack, we met on our reading rug. We talked about our new backdrop of a stable and what significance that has to our month of December. We told the first Christmas story. Those that have not already done so, chose their part for the Christmas Pageant. Like last year, our friends could choose any part, so there will be multiple Mother Marys and Baby Jesuses, etc. We begin with a script and the children really take on the story and determine how it is told. Each year it is unique, and we delight in the twists and turns we make right up to show time!
Our Christmas house is ready for the holiday! The children are free to decorate the tree and bake Christmas cookies in the kitchen. There are boxes and wrapping paper for them to choose and wrap presents for their friends and lucky teachers. It is always exciting to unwrap a present and see what is inside! Our North Pole feature this year is Santa's reindeer barn. Soon we will be building Santa's sleigh. Our Pilgrim log cabin has been transformed into a snow-topped log cabin for our winter forest. We are still adding logs to the backside of the cabin, so keep those tubes rolling on in!
We ended our day outside in the snow! Thank you all for the efforts taken to send in snow apparel We appreciate the opportunity to take all of the children out for snow play together! It truly is a joyful time for them to explore the snow with friends. We work on the order of dressing, too, and the self organization it takes to suit up for snow play.
